Where Things Stand

Current Status

TexasLand USA is seeking approval from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to create a Brazos River Improvement District (BRID) in support of its proposed 227+ acre theme park development south of Hempstead.


The TCEQ is the Texas state agency responsible for reviewing this request. As part of that review, the agency is considering hundreds of public comments and contested case hearing requests submitted by residents, adjacent landowners, and organizations.


The TCEQ Commissioners are scheduled to consider the proposed district and contested case hearing requests on August 26.

Received a TCEQ Notice?

If you received the TCEQ notice in the mail, no action is required at this time.


The notice was mailed to individuals who submitted public comments, requested a contested case hearing, or were otherwise identified by the TCEQ as participants in the public review process.


The notice is informational only. It lets recipients know that the TCEQ Commissioners are scheduled to consider the proposed district and pending contested case hearing requests.


CDWC will continue to provide updates throughout the TCEQ review. If additional public participation becomes important, we'll let you know.
